SHAKA Services is a charitable specialist sexual health organisation based in South London. It provides advocacy and support particularly targeting members of the African, African Caribbean and Asian communities living with or affected by HIV/AIDS.
SHAKA SERVICES have eight main services streams: four of which are a free services and the remaining four are fee paying for income generation to further the charitable objectives of the organisation. The ranges of services that the organisation currently delivers are as follows:
• Health and Social care providing:
Emotional Support, Generalist Advice and Casework on Housing, Welfare, Community Care, Human Right and Immigration issues for those living with or affected by HIV/AIDS who are in receipt of NASS support and considered destitute
• Health Prevention
A Primary Prevention Service Targeting the BMER communities with particular emphasis on Young Black People
We provide sexual health training for BMER community along with the sale of health promotion materials e.g. safer sex packs containing condoms with instructions, information on local GUM clinics, information booklets on sexual health from a culturally aware perspective etc

Fee/earned income work
SHAKA Services is already charging a fee for immigration. Further on the line, our objective is to be part of the Community Legal Service and try to secure contracts with the Legal Services Commission on Welfare Rights, Housing and Immigration. This will diversify and provide alternative source of unrestricted funds to cover some of the core costs and to develop other services to the BMER communities that are not attracting interest from funders.
• Training room rental
SHAKA Services provides fully training facilities for conferences, workshops, meetings etc.
• Cultural competency training
SHAKA Services provides culturally specific Training Programmes for voluntary and statutory organisations working with BMER.
• Social work student placement
SHAKA Services provides placement for students social workers as part of their course from different universities.
Shaka Services also undertakes a significant amount of work in partnership with young people particularly addressing issues around safer sex and responsible intimate relationships.
SHAKA Services offers multilingual translations for a number of African languages. These include: Swahili, French, Shaona (Zimbabwe) and Luganda (Ugandan dialect) to English or vice versa.
